Hi, please I need some help to keep my goldfishes. I answers the questions posted on the site:

  • Ammonia Level: don't know
  • Nitrite Level: zero
  • Nitrate level 10mg/L
  • Ph Level, Tank : Ph 7.2 ; KH 240; GH 25
  • Ph Level, Tap: Ph 6.2 ;KH 20 ; GH 75
  • Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? 6 test in one, strips- Jungle lab
  • Water temperature? 75-79F room temperature - no heater.
  • Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running?10 gal
  • What is the name and size of the filter(s)? Aqua-tech 10
  • How often do you change the water and how much? monthly, 40% of water changing and carbon activated too.
  • How many fish in the tank and their size?I had 4 goldfishes, average of 2 inches each.
  • What kind of water additives or conditioners? aquarium Salt API, easybalance (Tetra), proper ph7.0 API, Cycle "biological aquarium supplement" (nutrafin), so when I change water I add all of them and let it sit overnight before change approximately 40% (3gal bucket)
  • Whatdo you feed your fish and how often? autom feeder, twice a day flakes food, but thelast week i fed them with peas since they were pooping air bubbles.
  • Any new fish added to the tank? Yes, the last week, i added one is a "tony the bullier" bothers everyone before two dies
  • Any medications added to the tank? no, I just perform the water changing.
  • Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?
  • Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?Before dying, both were in the bottom but eating regularly, but one ofthem were swimming fast like a crazy andacting weird before death. Now I got just two, Tony "the bullier"-fantail swim great and "pele" black moors smaller and now "pele" isin the bottom.

First thing is your tank is way over crowded. Goldfish need a minimun of 10 gallons per fish, they are very messy. Second is the ammonia, you really need a kit that shows what the levels are. A small tank, such as a 10gallon, adding 2 more goldies will spike the ammonia level which can be deadly for any fish. It is also recomended to get a filter rated for 10 times the gallons, ie. 10 gallon tank should have a filter that dose 100 gph.
I hope this helps and good luck...please get them a bigger tank ASAP.

Welcome to AP! :)

I agree with j-pond, you really need a bigger tank, 30 gallon minimum. And you will need to check your ammonia level. Is your tank cycled?

Sounds like Jpond gave you the best advice. All I can do is second it. If you can't get a bigger tank get yourself a rubber maid or two and filters that are proper size till you can buy the tank. (The filters well be cycled and you can use them with the new tank.)
Welcome.

Thank for your help. Now I just have 2 goldfishes and I will not buy another ones. Tank cycled? I think so, since my nitrite and nitrate is well controlled. Am i right? Please let me know if I am right, anyways I will get my ammonia test today and try to improve my filter. Thank you very much.

Two still need much much bigger then a 10 gallon. If they are commons you need at least 40 gallons. If they are fancies at least 20 but that is just to start with. I would try to get even bigger.
